Owens' Workforce and Community Services Offers a Personal Safety Class, August 5

How safe are your possessions and family from crime? Learn about ways to safeguard your life by taking various crime prevention steps as Owens Community College offers a brown bag, personal safety course on Friday, August 5.

The personal safety class, titled "How to Protect Yourself from Crime" will occur from 12-1 p.m. at the College's Workforce and Community Services, located on Tracy Road in Northwood.

"Owens' one-day personal safety course is designed to expose residents to all aspects of risk assessment related to crime prevention," said Julee Cope, Owens chief of safety and security, who also serves as the class instructor. "It is very important for individuals to be aware of potential situations in which a criminal act could occur. This course will highlight a variety of safety tips which are invaluable in preventing crime."

The program will highlight an array of strategies, options and prevention techniques for individuals of all ages, as well as provide public safety awareness information to incorporate into everyday life. Attendees will also receive automobile, phone, home, personal and office safety tips.

Owens' Workforce and Community Services is dedicated to providing customer-driven workforce development and job training. The learning-centered approach focuses on developing and enhancing professional skills to meet the needs of the community, customizing training in the areas of computer applications, allied health education, apprenticeship-related training and skilled trades.
