Owens Community College Findlay-area Campus Names New Director of Community and Corporate Education

Steven Hillard Owens Community College has named Steven Hillard as the new director of community and corporate education on the Findlay-area Campus. His responsibilities will include overseeing all facets of the College's community and corporate education programs.

In his new position, Hillard will also foster partnerships between Owens and business, governmental and community leaders and identify opportunities for the College to provide education and training services for the Hancock County region.

"Steven Hillard is an outstanding leader who shares Owens Community College's commitment to excellence in higher education," said Judy Ennis, Owens executive dean of the Findlay-area Campus. "He brings a dedication to the academic setting, which is reflected in his professional and community service. Steven's selection as the new director of community and corporate education will have a significant impact on this College's educational future."

Since 1998, Hillard has worked in the human resources department for Midwest Stamping in Edgerton. In his most recent position as human resources generalist, he was responsible for all employee training and benefits coordination within the company. Hillard also oversaw plant safety, the organization's safety committee and the voluntary OSHA program, among other safety-related programs.

Additionally, he was a member of the company's steering committee that helped register the plant through the QS9000 and ISO 140001 programs.

Prior to Midwest Stamping, Hillard spent five years at the Robinair Plant for SPx Corp. in Montpelier. While with the SPx Corp., he served as the organization's training coordinator and was responsible for various aspects of the employee interviewing and hiring process, as well as other human resources functions.

"It is a tremendous honor to join the Owens Community College team," Hillard said. "I am deeply committed to promoting the importance of education and look forward to building and strengthening the community and corporate academic opportunities on the College's Findlay-area Campus."

His professional and community involvement includes membership with the Society for Human Resource Management, the Black Swamp Safety Council and the Northwest Ohio Industrial Relations Association. Hillard also serves on the Advisory Committee for the Center for Adult Programs at Defiance College.

The Montpelier resident earned his master's degree in business and organizational leadership from Defiance College and a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Bluffton University.
