Owens Community College Express Named All-Sports Conference Champion

Owens Community College Express Athletics has once again captured the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) All-Sports Award. The honor marks the sixth conference title in the last seven years for the College.

Owens has garnered eight all-sports championships in the College's history. Academic years in which the Express has been named all-sports conference champions are 1994-95, 1995-96, 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2004-05.

"I am very proud of our student-athletes for their hard work both in the classroom and during intercollegiate competition," said Jim Welling, Owens director of Student Enrichment and Athletics. "Owens has enjoyed a long-standing tradition of producing championship caliber teams. The success that our athletic program has achieved would not have been possible without the exceptional student-athletes and coaching staffs."

During the 2004-05 academic year Owens Express teams were Women's Softball Champions, Women's Volleyball Champions, Men's Baseball Second Place, Men's Basketball Second Place, Men's Soccer Second Place and Women's Basketball Third Place.

Columbus State Community College finished runner-up to Owens.

Owens has been a member of the OCCAC since 1987. The nine other member schools comprising the OCCAC are Clark State Community College, Cincinnati State Community College, Columbus State Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, Edison State Community College, Lakeland Community College, Sinclair Community College, Southern State Community College and Terra Community College.
