Musical Performance of 'The Christmas Box' Performed at Owens Community College, Dec. 10

The Christmas Box Area residents will have the opportunity to witness a national best-selling novel come to life onstage this holiday season as Owens Community College's Center for Fine and Performing Arts presents "The Christmas Box" on Saturday, December 10. This musical and narrative performance will appear on the College's Mainstage Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

"Owens' Center for Fine and Performing Arts is proud to offer a truly uplifting production that perfectly captures the holiday spirit," said Barbara Barkan, Owens operations manager for the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. "Audience members will be delighted by beautiful musical numbers and the simple, heartwarming story-telling."

Based upon and inspired by Richard Paul Evans' novel, "The Christmas Box" is the poignant tale of a widow and the young family who moves in with her together discovering what the holiday season is really all about. The show will feature longtime actor Tom Dugan serving as the story's theatrical narrator, while original music will be led nationally known composer Paul Cardall and his five-piece ensemble. The music that accompanies Dugan's dramatic narrative will set the mood and drive the emotions of "The Christmas Box" audience.

Cardall is a self-taught pianist who has released more than 10 albums, two of which reached the Billboard's Top 25 New Age Charts. His soulful, reflective music has earned rave reviews in publications such as the "Chicago Sun-Times" and has performed in theatres nationwide. Arguably, his most well known music and CD, inspired by Evans' "The Christmas Box," can be heard on thousands of radio stations worldwide each holiday season.

Dugan has been a longtime fixture on the Hollywood scene, acting alongside such individuals as Keanu Reeves, Dan Aykroyd and Arnold Schwarzenegger. His film credits include "Ghostbusters II," "Kindergarten Cop" and "Dave." He also has had roles on television shows that include "The Practice" and "Friends," as well as on stage productions of "On Golden Pond" and "Amadeus."

Tickets for "The Christmas Box" are $25 for the public, $22 for senior citizens and Owens employees, and $15 for students. To purchase tickets visit www.stagetix.com or contact the College's Box Office.
