High School Students Put Pen to Paper At Owens During Spring Semester

Owens Community College is pleased to offer a High School Writers' Workshop for students interested in developing their creative writing skills during the Spring Semester. The workshop is open to students of area high schools and home schooling and will meet weekly to discuss, critique and support writing.

The High School Writers' Workshop is free and open to all high school students, ages 14 through 18. Owens' program will take place every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in College Hall on the Toledo-area Campus. The College is located on Oregon Road, four miles from downtown Toledo. The workshop runs from January 11 through May 10.

"High school writing students will have a free opportunity to create, refine and recast their work in a variety of literary forms, such as short stories, poetry, song lyrics, free-verse rap and flash fiction," said Kathleen Geckeis, Owens manager of the Writing Center. "Finished products will appear in the Owens literary journal, 'Belles Lettres.'"

For more information, call (567) 661-7385 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 7385.
