Owens Community College Surgical Technology Program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in association with the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC-STSA). Owens Community College participated in an accreditation review and was found to be in compliance with nationally established standards on May 19, 2006. The next site visit will occur before or during 2016.
Students enrolled in the final semester of the Surgical Technology degree will be eligible to take the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Exam administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) during their final semester. This certification serves to demonstrate that the graduate meets national standards for knowledge in the profession and also acts as a means for career advancement, initial employment and recognition of expertise nationwide.
