As the U.S. prepares for ICD-10, Owens Community College is committed to supporting today's medical coders with tools for making the transition.
Now available: a two-part online assessment tool that will help you quickly determine how prepared you are for ICD-10 training.
The assessments test your current knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Pathophysiology and Language of Medicine.
After completion of the assessments, you will be given a recommendation about whether you should consider taking online classes to brush up on any of these areas before pursuing ICD-10 training.
The fee for the assessments is $50 per person. You can only take the assessment once, but the fee covers both assessments:
To register to take the assessments, call (567) 661-7357 or sign up online.
Hint: to find the assessment, enter ICD-10 in the search box.
Q. My employer or an organization will be paying for my training. Can you invoice them or accept purchase orders?
A. Yes. To be invoiced or supply a purchase order, please register by phone: (567) 661-7319 or 1 (800) GO-OWENS ext. 7357.
Q. I am part of a group of ten or more people who will be registering for the assessments. How do I obtain the discounted group fee of $45 per person?
A. Please register by phone and you will be given instructions regarding the information you will need to register each member of your group.
Q. If I do well on the assessments, what's next?
A. Upon completion of one or both assessments, you will be given recommendations. If you score high enough, you will be told that you are ready to take ICD-10 training, which Owens will offer in 2012.
Q. If the assessments indicate I have weak areas, what's next?
A. You will be given recommendations for pre-ICD-10 training that you should consider taking prior to taking formal ICD-10 training. Owens will offer brief online knowledge enhancement classes beginning in January, 2012. Taking these will assure you are ready to be successful with ICD-10 training. Class schedules and more details will be posted on this Web page as they become available.
