Owens Community College and Penta Career Center Dual Enrollment Partnership

Increase the number of students graduating from high school with college credit – this is what the state of Ohio is asking of us as a higher education institution as part of the Complete College Ohio initiative.

To meet this charge, Owens Community College and Penta Career Center established an agreement that enables juniors and seniors to earn transcripted credit from Owens while attending Penta.

"Owens Community College is committed to student success and to meeting the needs of the state," said Dr. Bower, President, Owens Community College. "Partnerships like this one ensure that Ohio is well positioned to compete educationally and economically."

This unique partnership allows earned credits to be documented on a student's official school transcript, which can be used at Owens and potentially other colleges and universities. Participation in this program reduces degree completion time and also provides a financial benefit since there is no cost to the student.

"We are very proud to have established this agreement with Owens because it provides our students with a valuable opportunity to get a head start on college while still in high school," said Ronald Matter, Superintendent of Penta Career Center. "Students will be simultaneously meeting state-approved high school and college curriculum requirements by successfully completing their career-technical coursework at Penta."

This partnership enforces the College's mission to prepare our students with highly marketable skills that contribute to their success in the workforce while promoting the success of our communities.
