The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), formerly the National League of Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) conducted their site visit of Owens registered nursing program January 22 – 24, 2013. In August 2013, the College received official notice that the registered nursing program regained accreditation through spring 2018.

Owens Board of Trustees honored the Express women's volleyball team for their highly successful season, finishing fourth among 16 teams in the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament, held at Owens in November 2012. The team completed the 2012 season with a 37-11 overall record and captured its 12th Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) regular season championship in the last 13 years. Coach Sonny Lewis' squad finished 12-0 in the OCCAC regular season standings.
