Host: Eric Wallack is a Professor of Music at Owens Community College. He is a specialist in plucked string instruments.

Trellis Presentation @ Education Center 111

Owens is pleased to share our data-informed approach in understanding current enrollment patterns and strategic opportunities that are responsive to our Findlay-area community.  Trellis Strategies will present and a join link is provided for remote viewing of the presentation.

The event will conclude with a signing ceremony to strengthen our transfer pathways so students can move seamlessly from Owens to a bachelor’s degree and beyond.  Our educational partners for the signings, include:  University of Findlay, Heidelberg University and Ohio Northern University.

Title IX Coffee Talk Series @ Center for Fine and Performing Arts Rotunda

The Title IX Office at Owens will host a monthly series of Title IX Coffee Talks, beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. Each talk will be in a different location and focus on various topics.

  • Nov. 4: Center for Fine and Performing Arts Rotunda, “Dos and Don’ts of Healthy Relationships”
  • Jan. 20: Heritage Hall Lobby, “Stalking”
  • Feb. 3: College Hall Atrium, “Is It Love or a Red Flag?”
  • March 3: Transportation Tech Hallways, “Healthy Masculinity”
  • April 7: Engineering Tech Lobby, “Consent in Sexual Relationships”

All events run from 9-11 a.m.

TRIO First-Gen Student Day Celebration @ College Hall Library

TRIO Programs will celebration first generation college students on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. outside of the library in College Hall. There will be light refreshments and first-gen giveaways while supplies last. Everyone is welcome!

Jodi Stevens is a classically trained pianist and organist with 48 years of professional church music experience in the Cleveland area. Mrs. Stevens has also been involved with area musical theater, Christian concerts, the music department at Lorain County Community College and the sale of Christian music for 20 years. Her professional music career began in 1977 at Community United Methodist Church, Elyria and has included leadership roles at Christ the King Church, North Olmsted; Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church, North Ridgeville; Bay Presbyterian Church, Bay Village; Hope Lutheran Church, Sheffield; and St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, Westlake where she has served as the Director of Contemporary Music since 2003.

Dental Hygiene Symposium Poster Presentation @ Math/Science Center Galleria

Second-year Dental Hygiene students will present their informative posters from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the Math/Science Galleria at the 5th annual Dental Hygiene Symposium. The topics include:

  • The Noise You Can’t Ignore: Hearing Loss in Dentistry: Hearing Loss in the Dental Field
  • Menopause Bites Back: Gum Health in the Age of Hot Flashes: Menopausal effects on the periodontium
  • A Bidirectional Bridge: The Association Between PCOS and Periodontal Disease: The relationship between PDD and PCOS and how they interact with each other
  • Laser-Focused Relief: Advancing the Treatment of Dentinal Hypersensitivity: Laser treatment for dentinal hypersensitivity
  • The Tongue Tells All: Clinical Signs of Systemic Conditions: Tongue coatings and their ties to systemic conditions
  • Soothe and Heal: The Impact of Aloe Vera on the Mouth: Aloe vera’s role in oral care
  • More Than a Smile: Uncovering the Hidden Effects of Stress and Anxiety on Oral Health: Mental health problems’ effects on the oral cavity
  • Crafting Confident Smiles: Dentition and Oral Care in Down Syndrome: Dentition for individuals with down syndrome
  • Beyond the Snore: Sleep Apneas Dental Delima: Sleep apnea and sleeping devices and their effect on the oral cavity
  • Stem “Seeds” in Dentistry: Regrowing the Future: Stem Cells in dentistry: Regeneration within oral cavity

This open forum event allows the Dental Hygiene students the opportunity to educate and bring awareness to the public, students, staff and dental professionals. On Nov. 8, the Dental Hygiene students will take their informative posters to the Ohio Dental Hygienists’ Association Annual Session to complete against nearly 75 dental hygiene students from across the state.

2025 Express Partners Faculty Art Show @ Walter E. Terhune Gallery

The Water E. Terhune Art Gallery will showcase the Express Partners Faculty Art Show from Nov. 6-Dec. 12. The join exhibition will feature the artwork of Owens visual arts faculty as well as faculty from local college transfer partners.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5-7 p.m.

Participating universities are: Bowling Green, Lourdes, Tiffin, Findlay and Toledo.
