Outstanding Dental Hygiene Graduate Madison Bronder Leaves Owens Debt Free and Ready to Work
Madison Bronder admits she had few obstacles or hard-won moments during her two years in the Dental Hygiene program at Owens Community College. That’s no accident, as she often worked seven days a week in the years leading to her coming to Owens, allowing her to put being a student first.
That preparation and hard work, both before and during her time at Owens, has paved the way for Bronder to graduate in May with her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene as well as being named an outstanding graduate and Colgate Student Total Achievement Recognition award winner.
Bronder graduated from the University of Toledo with her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science Pre-Med and immediately went to work.
“I worked full time during the week along with bartending Friday through Sunday, so I would work seven days a week at times, up to getting into the dental hygiene program,” Bronder said. “Since I worked my butt off during these two years, I did not have to worry about working during school and paid for my tuition and be debt free, which I’m very proud of.”
Even with her bachelor’s degree, Bronder wanted to work in the dental field. When she was in high school, she worked at a dentist’s office in her hometown of Perrysburg, calling patients to confirm appointments. It just so happened the one of the employees in the office was Nicole Buchanan, now an assistant professor in the dental hygiene program at Owens.
“When I was applying for the program, the dentist that I was working for provided me Nicole’s number to reach out to her with any questions, which I did. We didn’t know each other at that time, but she still was so supportive and showed me kindness while trying to navigate everything in the beginning,” Bronder said. “Now, I look at her as a role model and she is truly inspiring, the way she cares for everyone, is always willing to help, and she always has a smile on her face no matter what.”
After graduation, Bronder will work at Dr. Christopher Clark Family Dentistry in Perrysburg.
