Associate Degree Requirements
Congratulations on moving toward earning an associate degree at Owens Community College!
If you ever have questions about where you are in the process, we’re here to help. Review the official requirements to earn an associate degree (PDF).
How To Submit Your Petition
Once you’ve completed all the required courses, you can submit a petition to the Records Office. This lets the Records Office know you’re ready to be considered for your associate degree. Follow these steps:
- Log in to Ozone
- Log in to Workday
- Select the Academic App
- Under Academic Records, select Apply for Program Completion
- Select the appropriate program and select confirm
The Records Office will check your progress and send you an email with your degree status.
If Your Degree Petition Is Approved
Once your petition is approved, you’ll get emails throughout the semester with updates about graduation and commencement. You’ll also see info posted on the Owens website and in your student email.
Approval of your petition doesn’t mean you’ve officially graduated yet. After final grades are posted, the Records Office will do a final review to make sure you’ve met all the requirements.
If Your Degree Petition Is Denied
Don’t worry! You’ll get an email explaining what’s missing. You can talk with your academic advisor or email us for help. Once you’ve fixed the issues, you can submit a new petition for a future semester.
If You Have Incomplete Grades
If you have a “No Grade Reported” (NGR) or “Incomplete” (I), you’ll need to finish those courses within 30 days after the semester ends. If not, your petition will be denied.
Keep Your Mailing Address Up to Date
Your degree will be mailed to you, so double-check your mailing address in Ozone:
- Log in to your Ozone account
- Under My Ozone in the My Personal Information box, select Update My Address & Phone.
- Your current mailing address and phone number will display. If incorrect, please click the UPDATE link shown next to your permanent address.
