Get Ready for Your Next Semester
If you’re enrolled in the current semester and seeking a degree or certificate, you’re considered a current student.
Your Upcoming Semester Checklist
- Check Omail, Ozone and Blackboard announcements daily for information about campus events, important academic dates and student activities.
- Check your alerts and tasks in Workday for any outstanding tasks or items and check your Academics dashboard app and Financials Hub for holds that could prevent registration. If you have holds, take action to resolve those right away!
- Meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss your major, course selection and registration. If you’re a pre-health student, meet with your advisor at least once a semester to review admission requirements.
- Meet with your Student Financial Services Advisor to discuss financial obligations.
- Register for classes in Workday.
- Review your class schedule to be sure your registration is correct. You can view your class schedule in your Academics dashboard app in Workday.
- Order your books and supplies.
- Run your academic progress report in your Academics dashboard app in Workday.
Credit Hour Guidelines
One credit equals one hour in class. For every hour you’re in class, plan for at least 2 hours of study time per week. For example, if you’re taking a 3-credit-hour class, you should plan to spend at least 6 hours per week studying for this class.
Review this important information about credit hours:
- If you take at least 12 credit hours in a semester, you’re considered a full-time student.
- Any less than 12 credit hours is considered part-time.
- If you take up to 18 credit hours a semester, you can register online through Ozone.
- If you want to take 19-20 credit hours, you are required to get an Academic Advisor’s approval.
- Taking 21 or more credit hours requires the Dean’s approval.
