Start HereTRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a federally funded grant program through the US Department of Education.
EOC assists adults aged 19 and above and U.S. veterans to enroll in and complete a post-secondary education program.
All services are provided free of charge to participants who meet the eligibility requirements.
The mission of the Educational Opportunity Centers Program is to provide services for adults desiring to pursue their education beyond high school. The center’s goal is to increase the number of adults in the surrounding areas enrolling in colleges and universities.
EOC seeks to inform both adults and the larger community about educational opportunities that foster the ability of adults to achieve life changes, enhanced workforce engagement and effective citizenship in the local, national and global community.
EOC pursues its mission by utilizing a professional staff committed to the idea of educational access for persons who are first-generation and of limited income.
We are strongly dedicated to the academic, cultural, economic and social development of adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
Eligibility Requirements
- 19 years of age or older
- A U.S. citizen or permanent resident status (documentation required)
- A commitment to succeed in post-secondary education
And meet at least one of the following:
- Meet federal guidelines to demonstrate financial need
- A first-generation college student (First Generation College Student—an individual whose parent/guardians did not graduate from a four-year college or university)
- A Veteran of any age
Services Provided
- Assistance in completing applications for college admissions, testing and financial aid
- Guidance on secondary school reentry or entry to a GED program
- Career counseling and workshops
- Academic advice
- College pre-admission counseling
- Specialized assistance for veterans, military-affiliated members
- Information on postsecondary education opportunities and student financial assistance
- Education or counseling services designed to improve the financial and economic literacy of students

FAQs
Is There a Cost for EOC Services?
No. EOC is a federal TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. As a result, all EOC services are free of charge.
What Schools Can EOC Help Me Enroll Into?
EOC can help you enroll in any accredited two-year or four-year college, or vocational/technical school in the U.S. Persons needing to transfer from a community college to a four-year university should contact the EOC.
Who Is Eligible To Participate in the Program?
EOC assists adults, age 19 and older, who meet income guidelines and/or will be the first in their families to obtain a four-year college degree.
What Is Trio Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)?
TRIO EOC is one of eight federal TRIO programs. TRIO Programs (TRIO) are federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO EOC provides counseling and information on college admissions to qualified adults who want to enter or continue a program of postsecondary education.
An important objective of the EOC is to counsel participants on financial aid options, including basic financial planning skills and to assist in the application process. The goal of the EOC program is to increase the number of adult participants who enroll in postsecondary education institutions.
Does EOC Offer Any Scholarships?
TRIO does not offer general scholarships; however, we do offer scholarship search assistance.
Does EOC Help Individuals Pursue Their GED or High School Equivalency (HSE)?
Yes. EOC counselors interact directly with adult education centers to help program participants obtain their GED or HSE. Participants must plan to enter a degree-seeking program.
