Student Employment
Student Employment opportunities are available on both our Toledo-area and Findlay-area Campuses, plus a few off-campus options. Students normally work eight to 24 hours per week (depending on the department and position) and will earn minimum wage (currently $11 per hour).
If you have questions after reading the details below, please visit the review student employment FAQs or contact us.
“Regular” Student Employee Position Requirements
- Regular student status with a declared program of study,
- Good academic standing (CGPA 2.0 or higher), and
- Enrolled for classes (normally six or more credit hours per semester).
Note that these “regular” positions are open to both domestic and international (F-1) students.
FWS/Federal Work-Study Position Requirements
- Regular student status with a declared program of study,
- Good academic standing (CGPA 2.0 or higher),
- Enrolled for classes (normally six or more credit hours per semester), and
- Multiple additional criteria, such as unmet financial need, satisfactory academic progress and eligibility for federal aid (citizens and permanent residents).
Additional Information
Student employment—including both regular and FWS positions—is coordinated through Student Services in collaboration with departmental hiring managers, Financial Aid, Human Resources and Career Services. We are here to support our students and are glad to offer employment positions. Please note that gaining employment is a competitive interview process, and we encourage students to use the resume building and job search resources.
There is some limited flexibility regarding the class enrollment requirement. We call this the “Free Semester,” meaning that a Student Employee can be “free” from the normal rules once per academic year:
- If Fall or Spring is the “Free Semester,” the Student Employee must be registered for at least three credit hours.
- If Summer is the “Free Semester,” the Student Employee does not need to be registered for Summer Semester but must be registered for at least six credit hours in the Fall Semester.
