Benefits of Becoming an Apprentice
An apprenticeship program allows you to earn a paycheck while you learn a skill or trade:
- Get trained on the job by an expert worker.
- Participate in classroom instruction that applies directly to your career.
- Earn a nationally recognized completion certificate.
- Complete at least 2,000 hours (about one year) of on-the-job training.
- Complete at least 144 hours (or 18 full days) of classroom instruction for every 2,000 hours of on-the-job training.

Apprenticeship Pathways
The Apprenticeship Pathways initiatives advocates for individuals completing apprenticeships by incorporating these experiences into academic credit to provide a pathway to a technical associate’s degree at Ohio’s two-year public colleges.
The Apprenticeship Statewide Partnership Panel (ASPP) operates as part of the Ohio Articulation and Transfer Network (OATN), an Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) consortium.
Apprenticeship programs in Ohio have partnered with public community colleges to provide pathways to a technical associate degree.

Training Centers
Ohio has more than 80 Training Centers throughout the state, dedicated to training highly skilled craftsmen and women in the Building Trades. Apprentices at affiliate training centers receive healthcare and retirement benefits as well.
