Meet our Ceramics Instructors
Lindsay Scypta
Lindsay Scypta With a BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics, a Post-baccalaureate from Penn State and an MFA from the Ohio State University, Lindsay moved to Toledo in 2014 following a year-long artist residency at Clay Art Center in New York.
Lindsay was the 2017 Toledo Merritt Award recipient and the 2015 Palmer Scholarship fellow at the Toledo Museum of Art. This is her 11th year at Owens!
Jenn Deca
Jenn Deca holds a BFA from Bowling Green State University and a post-baccalaureate certificate from Penn State. Working mostly in porcelain, Jenn takes inspiration from her surroundings in the Oak Openings and her curated vintage home.
Jan Pugh
Jan Pugh holds a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. She was the founder and owner of Packer Creek Pottery in Genoa, Ohio for 35 years. Her ornaments were included in the Whitehouse Christmas tree display and are now held in the National Archives.
Joan Clare Brown
Joan Clare Brown is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she received her BFA from the University of the Arts. She holds an MFA from Bowling Green State University and was awarded artist residencies at Cheltenham Center for the Arts, University of the Arts and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Joan returned to Ohio in 2022 as a sabbatical replacement at her alma mater.
Meghan Yarnell
Meghan Yarnell With a BFA from Bowling Green State University and a degree in Art Education, Meghan is a full-time high school art teacher at Perrysburg High School while also maintaining a thriving home studio. Her work is influenced by the natural world as seen in her dark brown clay with brightly colored flora.
Kiley Schroyer
Kiley Schroyer holds a BA in Art from Lourdes University where she worked closely with Sister Jane Mary. Her work spans from painting and drawing to detailed ceramic objects inspired by nature.
