Beyond the Call

The Center for Emergency Preparedness (CEP) prepares new public safety professionals for duty offering relevant associate degrees as well as technical and short-term certificates.

The center also serves existing public and private safety professionals with advanced continuing education and “train the trainer” education opportunities bolstered with realistic, scenario-based training.

Our Partnerships

Toledo Fire and Rescue and Toledo Police

The Toledo Fire and Rescue and Toledo Police house their training academies at Owens. Toledo Fire Academy opened on Campus in 1999 and Toledo Police Academy started in 1985.

Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA)

The OPOTA was founded at Owens in 1970 in cooperation with the Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission (OPOTC) and certified by the State of Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC)

The Center for Emergency Preparedness is part of the State of Ohio’s Close to Home regional advanced training program for current law enforcement professionals.

The PS419 benefits students and the community by assisting high school students to find careers with Toledo Police or Toledo Fire and Rescue.
