Welding & Machining Training

Owens offers robust skilled trades training in Welding and Machining. Each entry-level course provides 96 hours of lecture and lab learning to prepare the student to gain entry-level employment in each area, in addition to more advanced apprenticeship study.

Introduction to Mechanics and Machining

$2,400 per person: Course covers machine shop safety and introduces the layman to machining and how it is used in industry to produce the goods used in the manufacturing environment. Covers machine types, preventative & reactive maintenance, gears, bearings, v-belts, chains, tools and tooling, measuring equipment and their applications in industry.

Welding Fundamentals

$2,650 per person: Course covers an introduction to welding processes used in industry, safety regulations including PPE and required procedures and practices on the job-site, familiarity and care for tools, machines and materials used in the welding process, daily set-up and tear down procedures and basic metrology used in welding processes and inspection.

Classes are held in-person at our labs in the Cherry Street Mission Life Revitalization Center.
