Outstanding Graduate Obtains Second Degree at Owens
Many graduates who cross the stage at commencement are receiving their first post-secondary degree. Kenneth Warren, a Barbara Rood Student Choice Award recipient, is receiving his second degree from Owens. This time, his degree is in nursing.
Warren, a 2008 Libbey High School graduate, obtained his associate degree in psychology at Owens five years ago. By completing his nursing degree, he has been able to expand his knowledge in his current position as a mental health technician in the inpatient psychiatry department at the University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC).
His past experience at Owens drew Warren back when it was time to pursue his nursing degree. The instructors he had in all areas of study made a big impact on his life. “They took time to check in with me and my goals while offering career tips and options to ensure I become a successful professional,” Warren said.
Warren has multiple opportunities in his future that he is considering. He has an offer in neurology at the Cleveland Clinic following an externship as well as a position at UTMC in the inpatient psychiatry department.
