Medical Emergencies

In Case of Emergency, Call 9-1-1

Stay Calm

Make sure the scene is safe before rendering aid.

Call 9-1-1

Call 9-1-1 as soon as possible. If you are alone and do not have a cellphone, yell as loudly as possible for help.

When speaking with Emergency Services, provide as much information as possible.

  1. Describe the type of emergency and the injury or illness, if known.
  2. Give your location. If you are inside, note the name of the building, the floor you are on, and the room you are in or near.
  3. Relate any medical information known. This may be directly from the injured or ill person or from a medical bracelet or necklace they are wearing.
  4. Do not hang up until you are told to do so.

Do not move the injured person unless they are in danger.

Render Aid

If properly trained, offer to provide first aid and/or CPR.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Ask someone to retrieve an AED in case it is needed. Individuals who are comfortable using an AED may do so at their discretion.

AED Locations

AEDs are available on both the Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses in wall-mounted cabinets. In addition, mobile units are carried by Department of Public Safety police officers.
