Interprofessional Education (IPE)
About Interprofessional Education
Interprofessional education (IPE) occurs when students from diverse health disciplines collaborate and learn from each other.
All health programs at Owens provide you IPE opportunities to instill the importance of working together as members of an effective healthcare team.
IPE activities sometimes includes you and just one or two other health disciplines. While each fall and spring semester, students from all health disciplines gather to participate in the same IPE event that often times involves community partners.
IPE learning activities coaches you in Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPCP) in the healthcare setting.
IPCP not only involves healthcare professionals from a variety of areas applying their specific knowledge and skills to the care of a patient, it also promotes mutual respect for other healthcare disciplines.
This collaboration results in teams accomplishing more together than they can as individuals, thereby enhancing patient care.
