About Counseling Services

College life can be challenging. Owens Counseling Services supports students as they work through personal concerns, build coping skills and develop the tools needed to succeed, both academically and personally.

Our team supports your academic, emotional and social well-being and collaborates across campus to promote a healthy, supportive learning environment. Our approach is guided by respect for diversity, whole-student development, and the highest ethical and legal standards.

Counseling Services is part of the College’s Behavioral Consultation Team and is housed within the Division of Student Affairs.

We recognize that college can be stressful and that life outside the classroom can impact your academic experience. Positive mental health plays an important role in your success, and our focus is on helping you overcome challenges, strengthen resilience and expand your opportunities.

By working with students and the campus community, Counseling Services helps create an environment where you feel empowered to respond to challenges, grow from your experiences and move forward with confidence—both academically and personally.

Counseling Services is committed to supporting student success by:

  • Providing mental health assessments and support, including referrals to additional resources and crisis intervention when appropriate. We’re here to help students address personal, career and social concerns that may affect their education.
  • Offering outreach programs that promote well-being and awareness across campus.
  • Consulting with students, faculty and staff to support a caring, responsive campus community.
  • Training graduate-level counseling students, helping prepare the next generation of mental health professionals.

Counseling Services provides support in a fair, respectful and non-discriminatory manner, in accordance with College policies and all applicable state and federal laws. We are committed to maintaining a learning and working environment that is welcoming, inclusive and free from discrimination.

Your privacy is important. All interactions with Counseling Services—including appointments, session content and records—are confidential in accordance with federal and state laws and professional ethical standards.

Your counseling records are not part of your academic or employment files. If you choose, you may request in writing that specific information be shared with individuals you designate.
