Your 75-Hour Path to Nurse Aide Excellence
Start your healthcare career with this comprehensive 75-hour program and become a confident, skilled nurse aide. Through 59 hours of lecture and hands-on skills lab practice combined with 16 hours of real-world clinical training, you’ll master the essential skills that make nurse aides valuable healthcare team members.
You’ll learn fundamental patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene protocols and infection control. The program will teach proper body mechanics and safety techniques to protect both you and your patients throughout your career.
You’ll also develop the compassionate communication skills you need to connect with patients, families and healthcare teams. Provide safe, effective care with coursework in medical terminology, basic anatomy and common health conditions.
Finally, you’ll enter the field with deep knowledge of the legal and ethical responsibilities of nurse aides. Graduate ready to make a significant difference in patients’ lives every day.
Career Outcomes
This state-required training course is your direct pathway to a stable, fulfilling healthcare career. The program prepares you for the Ohio Competency Evaluation Exam, equipping you with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue State-Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credentials, as well as opportunities as a home health aide—roles that open doors across Ohio’s growing healthcare industry. Completion of this training program does not result in CNA certification.

Getting Started at Owens
Begin your high-quality education at an affordable price today!
Enrollment is easy—just fill out an online admissions application to get started. We’ll ask you to submit your transcripts for course placement and college credit.
Upon acceptance, schedule a meeting with your admissions advisor to register for classes. Next, attend an on-campus orientation and meet with your student financial services advisor to discuss ways to pay for college.
SNHP Admission Requirements
After you are admitted to Owens Community College, you must apply separately to the School of Nursing and Health Professions for the Nurse Assistant Training/Home Health Aide Certificate. The Ohio Department of Health requires 100 percent attendance for all participants.
Before beginning classes, you must submit health documentation including proof of a two-step tuberculosis test, COVID vaccination status and influenza vaccination status on the first day of class. You must also purchase program scrubs and complete a criminal background check through the Owens Department of Public Safety by the start of the program.
