Steel Foundations
Weld the framework of bridges, buildings and beyond.
Specialize in the heavy-duty welding techniques required for large-scale construction and manufacturing projects. Plate welders work with thick steel sections to create everything from structural building frames and bridge components to shipbuilding assemblies and industrial equipment that must withstand extreme conditions and heavy loads.
Owens’ Plate Welding Certificate program provides comprehensive training in the essential welding processes that drive these massive projects. You’ll develop expertise in practical techniques including stick welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and metal inert gas (MIG) welding.
A welder’s job is a blend of technical precision and craftsmanship. As you perfect challenging positions and advanced techniques, you’ll build not just welds, but confidence, expertise and professional pride. The reward is tangible: knowing that the bridges, machinery and industrial systems you helped create stand strong.
Skills that set plate welders apart:
- Meticulous Attention to Detail: Every weld must be perfect; even small mistakes can compromise safety and structural integrity.
- Technical and Blueprint Literacy: The ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints and schematics ensures work meets specifications.
- Manual Dexterity and Hand-Eye Coordination: Steady hands and fine motor control are critical for clean, strong welds in all positions.
