From Science Foundation to Clinical Practice
In your first semester, you’ll enhance your communication and critical thinking skills while exploring the fundamentals of the human body and behavior through anatomy, physiology and psychology. You’ll also build confidence navigating the healthcare environment through an introduction to healthcare careers and medical terminology.
The second semester deepens your scientific knowledge with continued anatomy and physiology coursework, plus a math elective tailored to your career goals—choose from statistics, algebra or quantitative reasoning. You’ll also gain deeper insight into both the science and human aspects of patient care through lifespan psychology, sociology and advanced communication studies.
By the third semester, you’ll broaden your perspective with courses in ethics, microbiology and immunology, and general arts and sciences and communication electives. Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training provides valuable direct patient-care experience and earns you a certification that employers and advanced programs value.
