X-Ray Vision
Master imaging technology that saves lives daily.
Becoming a certified radiologic technologist puts you at the forefront of modern medicine, where you combine cutting-edge imaging technology with patient care. Radiographers use X-rays, CT scans, and other advanced imaging techniques—such as mammography and interventional procedures—to assist physicians in diagnosing illnesses and injuries every day.
Owens’ Pre-Radiologic Technology Concentration, AS provides an affordable first step into this high-demand field. You’ll build a strong scientific foundation and complete prerequisites needed for Owens’ Radiologic Technology, AAS program—or transfer to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
More than just technical expertise, this is a career centered on people. You’ll comfort patients, explain procedures, and make their medical experience safer and more reassuring. Build Your Foundation for Radiologic Tech
In your first semester, you’ll build a foundation in the communication, science and psychology skills necessary for a career in the field of radiologic technology. You’ll dig into anatomy and physiology, learn to speak the language of medicine and gain an introduction to health science careers. Sharpen your writing skills through composition and expand your understanding of people through general psychology.
In your second semester, deepen your knowledge of anatomy and physiology and lifespan psychology while strengthening your math and communication skills. You’ll see the bigger picture of human behavior and society through a sociology elective.
Next, advance into higher-level courses that prepare you for the demands of healthcare. You’ll study microbiology and immunology, study ethics in healthcare decision-making, and complete another writing course. You’ll also gain hands-on patient care experience through Certified Nurse Aide Training.
Your final semester is flexible, allowing you to select five electives aligned with your interests and career goals. Work with your advisor to plan your courses, ensuring a successful transition into a radiologic technology program.
