Many factors can determine your future. For Business Management Technology student Addison Keiser, his family and building the legacy at the family business helped him realize Owens Community College was the best place to make that happen. “Owens has helped me become more resilient in the face of challenges, set goals and understand my learning style and what works for me,” he said.

Keiser currently works at Green Edge Lawn Care in Perrysburg with his stepfather, Mark Ratcliffe, and his uncle, Matthew Ratcliffe. “The things I have already started to learn at Owens will help their business grow by making small changes to be more efficient and effective,” said Keiser.

The business recently received a boost, thanks to Ohio State University and United Healthcare. Keiser entered Green Edge in a small business sweepstakes and won. Green Edge was awarded Ohio State football game tickets and on-field recognition for winning the sweepstakes. Keiser credits winning the sweepstakes and a local TV station’s story with an increase in business: “We received calls from many potential new customers from all over the area. It’s amazing!”

The Walbridge resident enrolled at Owens to help his stepfather and the family business. Currently, he will fill-in with multiple jobs at the business and with his Owens education, he is helping manage day-to-day operations and administrative duties.

“Owens Community College has helped me re-establish a solid foundation for future educational success that will carry over to life success,” said Keiser. He will graduate from Owens in Spring 2024 and intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree from a local university. He will also continue to manage the lawn care business with his family.
