Helping others and seeing the impact of work inspired this year’s Gerald Bazer Award winner to choose Owens Community college. Caitlin Jones is graduating with a triple major: Occupational Therapy Assistant, Associate of Science in Biology and an Associate of Arts in Geography. The Medina native worked at a home for individuals with disabilities. While there, one of her residents had a stroke and she watched his recovery process, which inspired Jones to enroll in Occupational Therapy at Owens. In her time at Owens, Jones was involved in a number of organizations including the honors program, service scholars, Pride Club and Student Occupational Therapy Association.
“I am thankful for Owens for providing me with a strong foundation that will help set me apart from my peers as I continue on my academic journey.” After graduation, Jones will seek her bachelor’s degree in health sciences through an online program at the University of Cincinnati.
