If you think back to some of the biggest moments of your life, chances are you have photographs of the events. This year’s Gerald Bazer Award recipient is Christie-Ann Lewis, a commercial photography technology graduate.

The Gerald Bazer Award recognizes one student each semester majoring in Arts and Sciences with a minimum GPA of 3.5, and who has demonstrated exceptional scholarship and achievement at Owens Community College.

Lewis is a Toledo native and has three kids. As they grew up, she realized how much watching her children could lead to her future professionally. “My kids inspired me. I like to tell stories and I like capturing moments,” Lewis said.

While at Owens, Lewis helped with photo shoots whenever she could to enhance her skills for the future.

This is her message to her fellow graduates: “College, like life, can be overwhelming at times. If that happens, take a step back, breathe, gather your thoughts, sleep on it and begin again.”
