A life-changing impulse decision brought this year’s Linda Myers Outstanding Radiography Graduate, Emily Tate, to Owens Community College. The Anthony Wayne graduate originally went to Kent State University for three years where she aspired to become a fashion designer. Once she realized that wasn’t ideal, she was encouraged to get into Radiologic Technology, which aligned with her interest in art and photography.

Tate credits a combination of things that made Owens the best place for her education. “I always felt support from one area or another and Owens had a part in creating those connections that I feel other college experiences can’t provide,” said Tate, adding that the accommodating instructors and clinical experience made her confident she chose the right career at the right school.

After graduation, Tate will begin her career as a Radiologic Technology at McLaren St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee.
