RSVPs and Guests

All graduates and guests will be required to RSVP to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Watch your email for the RSVP link. The RSVP deadline is Thursday, May 19.

Commencement Cap and Gown Rental

Student Activities is offering graduates the opportunity to rent a cap and gown for May’s Commencement ceremony. The cost is a $20 deposit for the cap and gown. You will receive a tassel as well.

Cap and gowns will be available outside of College Hall 102:

  • Wednesday, May 4: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Monday, May 9: 9 – 11 a.m.
  • Thursday, May 12: 1 – 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 17: 9 – 11 a.m.
  • Wednesday, May 25: 9 – 11 a.m.

Graduates on the Findlay-area Campus should email studentactivities@owens.edu about requesting a cap and gown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do children count as guests?
Yes, children count as a guest regardless of age.

Can we decorate our cap and gown?
Yes. Silly string and confetti poppers are prohibited.

When will cap and gown rentals be available?
Student Activities plans to host rentals the week of May 2. Information will be posted in Ozone and on the Commencement website.

Is there practice?
There is no practice. Graduates need to be checked in and seated at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony.

When will I receive my diploma and/or certificate?
Starting with this ceremony, diplomas and certificates will be issued by Credentials Solutions/Parchment. Students will receive an email from Credentials Solutions/Parchment to verify their mailing address prior to the document(s) being mailed. Credentials Solutions/Parchment will also provide digital credentials for students.

How do I obtain Honor and/or Veteran Cords for Commencement?
Applicable cords will be placed on your seat prior to the start of your scheduled ceremony.

Will there be professional photography?
Lifetouch will be onsite to take professional photos during the ceremony.

What will happen with Lifetouch taking Commencement photography?

  • Everyone will be photographed
  • Photos will be online at events.lifetouch.com 2-6 weeks after the ceremony
  • Complimentary proofs mailed to graduates
  • No obligation to purchase
