RSVPs and Guests
Graduates: All students who applied for graduation have received an invitation to Commencement via email. That invitation includes RSVP information. The deadline to RSVP is Thursday, December 7; Graduates must RSVP to participate in Commencement. On the day of Commencement, graduates must be checked in 30 MINUTES PRIOR to their scheduled ceremony.
Guests: All guests are required to have an RSVP on file. Your graduate is responsible for facilitating the RSVP process for their guests.
Cap and Gown Order Deadline
Go to the Jostens website where you will be able to purchase your cap, gown and other Commencement items. The deadline to order is Thursday, November 9.
Commencement Cap and Gown Rental
The location for cap and gown rental is outside of College Hall 100.
Cap and Gown Rental – $20 (cash only)
Tassel Purchase- $10 (cash only)
Cap and Gown Rental Dates:
- November 6: 10 a.m. – noon
- November 9: 1 – 3 p.m.
- November 14: 10 a.m. – noon
- November 15: 1 – 3 p.m.
- November 27: 1 – 3 p.m.
- November 30: 10 a.m. – noon
- December 5: 9 – 11 a.m.
- December 6: 1 – 3 p.m.
- December 11: 1 – 3 p.m.
- December 14: 9 – 11 a.m.
Findlay-area Campus graduates are encouraged to contact the Student Activities Office at studentactivities@owens.edu to make arrangements for a rental. Rentals also will be available at the CFPA before for the Commencement ceremonies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do children count as guests?
Any child under the age of 2 does NOT count as a guest if that child can sit on a grown-up’s lap for the entire ceremony. Anyone over the age of 2 or any child under the age of 2 that requires an individual seat MUST BE COUNTED separately as a guest.Is there practice?
There is no practice. Graduates need to be checked in and in their spot in the processional line 30 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony.
When will I receive my diploma and/or certificate?
Diplomas and/or certificates will be issued by Parchment. Students can get their digital credential faster, so it’s a great way to immediately share your accomplishment with your family, friends, and potential employers.
Upon completion of the final graduation audit, graduates will receive an email with instructions for electronically claiming their diploma and/or certificate.
Follow these simple steps:
- Check your school email and text messages for the award notification.
- Follow the link to set up your Parchment digital credentials account.
- Share your digital diploma on Facebook and LinkedIn via a verified link, or download a secure .pdf version.
The digital diploma and/or certificate will always be accessible online through your Parchment account. You can login to your Parchment account and download or share your diploma and/or certificate as many times as you’d like throughout your lifetime.
Your paper diploma and/or certificate will still be mailed to your permanent address on file within 6-8 weeks from the end of the graduating term. Please make sure your address is up to date via Ozone.

How do I obtain Honor and/or Veteran Cords for Commencement?
Applicable cords will be provided to you at check-in for commencement.
Will there be professional photography?
The Grad Team will be onsite to take professional photos during the ceremony
What will happen with The Grad Team taking Commencement photography?

Can we decorate our cap and gown?
- Yes. Silly string, confetti poppers and glitter are prohibited.
Can I give extra tickets to another student?
- To be fair to all involved, we are stringently enforcing the four (4) guest per graduate policy.
