We are excited to announce that in-person Commencement will return for Spring Semester 2021, with multiple ceremonies planned for Friday, May 14.

We understand the importance of celebrating your success while working to maximize the health and safety of the Owens community, to include graduates, guests, faculty and staff. We welcome Spring 2021 graduates as well as all Class of 2020 graduates to walk across the stage and hear your name called.


All ceremonies will last approximately 60 minutes and be held at the Student Health and Activities Center, Toledo-area Campus.

Note: Nursing graduates will participate in their traditional pinning ceremony in lieu of participating in this ceremony.

RSVPs and Guests

All graduates and guests who RSVP’d to participate in their respective Commencement ceremony will receive an email with event-day instructions and QR code for entry.

All attendees will be required to follow and/or adhere to the following guidelines before attending the event:

  • A mask must be worn at all times
  • Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet or more from people who don’t live in your household. Be particularly mindful in areas where it may harder to keep this distance, such as check-in areas, parking lots, and routes of entry and exit.
  • Take temperature prior to arriving at event.  If you have a fever at or above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, you must stay home. Also monitor for other symptoms of COVID-19, including new cough or shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, new onset severe headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, and stay home if they occur.
  • Stay home if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or displaying COVID-19 symptoms, if you are waiting for COVID-19 test results, or may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

Note: If you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, you may only attend the event if you meet the following criteria:

  • At least 10 days have passed since your symptoms first began AND
  • At least 24 hours have passed since there has been no fever without use of fever-reducing medication AND
  • There has been improvement in other symptoms.

Safe Event

We want to thank each of you for celebrating while still being mindful of social distancing and wearing a mask. Please remain in your seats throughout the ceremony. We ask that when the ceremony concludes, please wait to be dismissed by Owens staff and then promptly exit the building and return to your vehicles. Thank you once again for helping us mark this special occasion safely.

The Commencement ceremony will be held on the Toledo-area Campus in the Student Health and Activities Center (Student Center), 7375 Championship Drive West, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
