Student Leadership

Fund of Excellence

The Student Leadership Fund of Excellence benefits students by helping fund opportunities to further their leadership knowledge by participating in leadership conferences or activities. They have the opportunity to hone their leadership skills and realize the privilege and power of their influence in their school, community, and state. Owens students learn and grow as leaders through a variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities both on and off-campus such as:

Student Government members are leaders on campus, undertaking initiatives to engage students as part of the College community while also being liaisons between students and the College’s administration.

Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) students have the opportunity to develop and grow as leaders. RSO members may choose to run for officer positions, spearhead fundraising initiatives or find other ways to lead within the organization.

The National Society of Leadership & Success (SNLS) is the nation’s largest leadership honor society. Students are selected for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. The NSLS provides a step-by-step program for members to build their leadership skills through participation in the program. Upon completion, members receive their leadership certificate and take their place among the top student leaders across the country.

The Honors Program provides challenging opportunities for scholars to excel in academics, civic engagement and leadership. Scholars are encouraged to create their own projects and internships that enrich their experiences at Owens and beyond to aid in achieving their academic and leadership goals.

Service Scholars get involved in the community and develop valuable leadership skills.

Connection Mentors help fellow students navigate the college process and adjust to college student life.

Student Employment Opportunities enable Students to gain practical work experience in positions at the College and off campus while pursuing their education. Student employees are leaders on campus as they provide vital services to other students and the College.
