Kimberly Minke

Professor, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Psychology

Kimberly Minke has taught full time at Owens since 2000, focusing mostly on Psychology (and a few Sociology, leadership, career and student development) courses. She also served as Director of the Owens Leadership Academy, a leadership development program for full-time employees of the College; and is a graduate and recent Board member of Leadership Toledo. In these roles, she facilitated many interactive workshops, presentations and training sessions for adults and teenagers. Prior to teaching full time at Owens, she served as an adjunct instructor and a representative in the admissions and advising areas. She worked at both the Toledo and Findlay campuses, as well as at the Owens Learning Centers, and had the blessing of interacting with many wonderful colleagues and students through the years. She received her Master’s degrees in College Student Personnel (with an adult-learner focus) and Industrial/Organizational Psychology (with a focus on training and assessment) from BGSU. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with an emphasis in Biology and Chemistry at Lebanon Valley College in central Pennsylvania, which is about 15 minutes down the road from Hershey (as in “Hershey’s Chocolate” and “Hersheypark” – a smaller version of Cedar Point). Although she has lived in Ohio for many years, now, she is a Pennsylvania native, born and raised in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain. Ms. Minke loves spending time with her husband, family and friends (and 20-year-old Siamese kitty!), discovering new places, meeting new people, learning new things, volunteering (community, school, church, Leadership Toledo), reading, gardening, Star Trek, sunset walks on the beach and the color blue.
