This time of year is always a reminder of our unique mission as an educational institution, one that goes beyond teaching facts and figures to nurturing critical thinkers – not only our students but as a guiding principle for everyone in our community.

At Owens, we believe that the true essence of education lies not just in what you learn, but in how you learn to think. This approach to education – and life – is crucial, as it empowers us with the ability to question deeply, analyze critically, and approach challenges with an open and inquisitive mind. It’s about cultivating a mindset that is always ready to explore and discover.

Our role as educators and community members is to support each other on this journey of intellectual exploration. We provide an environment where questioning is encouraged and multiple perspectives are valued. Our dynamic curriculum and dedicated faculty and staff are essential, but so is the participation and support of our entire community. This collective effort enhances the educational experience for our students and enriches our community as a whole.

Let us all embrace this new year with an intentional focus on intellectual curiosity and growth. Whether you are a student embarking on your educational journey, a faculty member helping to foster learning, a staff member supporting our mission, or a community member engaged with our College, your role is crucial in fostering a culture of continuous learning and open-minded exploration.

Let this year be defined by your curiosity, your willingness to explore new ideas, and your commitment to intellectual growth. Let’s go deeper this year. Let’s read beyond the headline and listen to more than the soundbite. The journey of learning is transformational, and at Owens, we are here to support you every step of the way.

Thank you for being a part of our vibrant learning community.

Warm regards,
